This event is now over
Interested in taking out an ad in our Girls Get Science event brochure? Our next event is scheduled for late September.
We provide after-school robotics, engineering and other STEM programs for elementary schools in the D.C area. We’re currently in about 50 schools and we are expanding. (Note: this fall, we are changing our name to The Great Adventure Lab.)
About Girls Get Science
For this event, we bring together a panel of leading women scientists/ engineers with parents and their daughters. Past speakers have included several scientists from NASA.
While the daughters grades 2-5 do hands-on activities including robotics and programming, their parents attend our panel’s discussion about STEM education and careers. After that, parents and their daughters have an hour to meet with the panelists to talk to them about their work and careers.
Parents LOVE this event and several have reported that it has given their daughters newfound interest in STEM.
This is a Benefit
We donate all proceeds from this event to after-school science programs for children who live in low-income housing developments built and managed by Montgomery Housing Partnership.
Here are three ways to help.
1. Advertise in our event brochure.
Our brochure reaches 100 families who are parents of elementary-school age daughters, and who are interested in getting their children more involved in science and technology. Here are some ad options:
$50 - full-page ad
$35 - half-page ad
We do not create or edit ads - your ad must be delivered in a .jpg format.
We thank all advertisers in our event advertising, both on our website and our Facebook Advertisers also get one free month of advertising on our site, which receives more than 1,500 visitors a month.
2. Donate a science-related item or experience to our silent auction.
Popular items include museum tickets, or any experience, including a behind-the-scenes tour of a science-related workplace, books, robotics items, etc.
We will list these items and their donors in our event brochure. Families bid on and pay for the items during the event. Donors of items valued at over $100 will receive a half-page ad in our brochure.
3. Become a Girls Get Science sponsor.
We have three sponsorship levels. We reserve the right to deny any proposed sponsorship for any reason.
We are very excited about being able to provide this opportunity for girls. We hope you’ll join us in our effort by supporting our event!
